Description
This 2-day- Atlas Mountains Culture Trek to and from Marrakech provides the opportunity to discover the majestic High Atlas Mountains and immerse yourself in local life and culture as you visit the traditional Berber mountain villages. This overnight trekking tour can be customized to suit your group’s experience level, with multiple hiking itineraries available. Enjoy incredible views as you hike through the valleys, spend a night in a Berber village house high in the mountains, and have a chance to meet a local Berber family.
Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Tiziane(1950m) – Tizi n’Takherkhort pass 2100m– Assif zagzawn 1900m.
Pick up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8:30 am, and drive to the high Atlas Mountains. It will take around 1h15 drives to Tiziane; the starting point of the Trek where you will meet our local team! You will have a cup of tea before you start the hike towards the pass of Tizi n’ Takherkhort from where you will have nice views over Ouirgane Valley, Azzaden Valley & Nfiss valley .here you will enjoy a fresh meal prepared by our cook! Once you are ready, you will continue walking downhill to the village of Assif Zagzawn where you will spend the night at a Berber village house. Around 5h walk.
Day 2: Assif Zagraoun (1,700m) – Tamgerht 2489m – Ouirgane 1740m- Marrakech.
After an early breakfast, you will start walking uphill to Tamgerht Pass where you will have a breathtaking view over nfiss valley. After a short break on the pass, you will continue downhill to Tikhfist village passing juniper and carob trees then scrub with wild marjoram (oregano). Also keep an eye out for birds such as Eurasian Jay, Subalpine Warbler, and Grey Tit. You will have lunch in a Berber house while enjoying impressive views of the Azzaden Valley Ouirgane Valley before transferring back to Marrakech.
