Description
If you have some previous mountaineering experience, a great fitness level, and enjoy demanding challenges, I invite you to conquer the summit of the famous Mont Toubkal (4165m) in just 1 day!
Standing over the beautiful Imlil Valley, the legendary Mont Toubkal is the highest peak in North Africa and a dream ascent for mountaineers from all over the world.
This intense rapid ascent I propose is a truly demanding climb. Mont Toubkal is usually climbed in at least 2 days, but we will reach the summit and descend to the valley in just 1 day. It will be an unforgettable ascent returning via the North Cwm Route.
So, to join this program, you need to have an excellent fitness level, as we will climb without the help of ski lifts and we won’t spend a night in the refuge. You will stay with us in a private Ouirgane Trekking Retreat before this challenging trek before attempting the summit. You also need to have previous high mountain experience, on a climb of at least 3 days.
The North Cwm Route is considered the fastest way to the Mont Toubkal summit, once you reach The Summit of Tibhrine East in the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, a peak just a short distance below the north ridge of Jebel Toubkal, could be a scene from a Mad Max movie. The mountain is capped with what looks like a mangled alien spaceship, though it’s actually an old aircraft engine from 1969’s famous air accident.
Of course, we will have breaks on our way up and when we return via Toubkal hut.
The terrain to the summit is mostly glaciated and requires no use of harnesses, crampons, and ropes. It is also available to rent in the Imlil Village. We will enjoy a truly spectacular view from the top of Mount Toubkal!

Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech -Ouirgane
We will meet at Marrakech airport and transfer to Ouirgane Trekking Lodge (1,000m), our tour’s starting point. After lunch, we will do an optional evening walk through the Berber villages of the Ouirgane Valley. In the evening, we will have dinner at the lodge and go over the trip’s itinerary.
Day 2: Ouirgane – imlil -Toubkal -Imlil -Marrakech
After an early breakfast at the lodge, We will start our adventure at 2:30 am, from the village of Ouirgane (1000m), a 20-minute drive to the valley of Imlil, from there we hike to Marabout Sidi Chamharouch (2,350m), a pilgrimage site, where we will enjoy some rest. We continue to Imin’Tifrite to have a traditional tea and then cross the Isgan n’Wagouts corrals reaching the Neltner refuge (3,207m).
After a refreshing mint tea and snacks at the Toubkal refuge, we will begin our ascent to Mount Toubkal (4,167m). First, we will head to the hole of Akhbi n’Tizi (3,700m) and trek to the Collado del Toubkal (3,950m), from where we will ascend the summit, via the Toubkal Ridge. If the weather permits, from Toubkal’s top, we will enjoy both a delicious lunch as well as impressive views of the Atlas Mountains. We will then descend to the refuge and return to Imlil for our driver to take us back to Marrakesh or our Lodge. 12 hours walking.

Tour du Mont Toubkal Kit List and Equipment
Lightweight boots and shorts are sufficient as long as there are warm clothes in your backpack. Waterproofs are essential and trekking poles useful. Here are some of the best mountain equipment shops in the atlas mountains .
