Toubkal accent trek via Ifni Lake is a moderately difficult high mountain trek for the adventurous which is Situated in the Toubkal National Park, the Toubkal accent trek via Ifni Lake encompasses Mount Toubkal in the High Atlas Region (4165m), Jebel Ouanoukrim (4089m), Irhil M’Goun (4071m), Afella (4043m), and many more incredible mountains.

Mount TOUBKAL, the highest peak in North Africa, is the soul of the High Atlas Range. Toubkal ascent trek and the surrounding area is the main attraction of Toubkal National Park with TifnouteValley and the Ounoums Pass. You will also visit Tifnoute Valley and breathtaking Ifni Lake which are among the most beautiful in the High Atlas. You will see firsthand the culture of the Berbers.

On the way, you will visit the renowned Tinmal Monastery and explore Nfiss and Agoundiss valleys.

Mount Toubkal Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakesh – Tinmal – Tifnoute Valley

From Marrakech, head in the direction of Ouirgane – and Nfiss Valley and travel towards the Tifnoute Valley until Amsouzart – entry point to Toubkal National Park. On the road, you can see the impressive Tinmal mosque: …….

Continue your scenic drive along the Tifnoute Valley, which is a succession of small villages perched along the mountainside. you will stop at one of the villages to enjoy a delicious lunch.

After lunch we continue our journey to meet our support local team, we start our 2h30 sunset hike west of Amsouzart in a superb green valley dotted with small villages, which we explore as we make our way towards Ifni Lake, the only lake in the massif. It is a memorable sight, surrounded by Rocky Mountains and giant heaps of rubble, and is unusually deep. We expect to arrive by 5 pm and relax at the shore. We camp tonight in this area.

Day 2: Lake Ifni – Tizi n’Ounoums – Toubkal Refuge

Today’s walking is about 6 hours, climbing up first to the Ounoums Pass (3600m) with more spectacular views over the Toubkal Massif. After our picnic at the top of the pass, we continue gently downhill to the Toubkal Refuge (3207m) where we will spend the night in the Toubkal refuge.

Day 3: Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Summit – Toubkal Refuge

To enjoy the views from the summit (4167m) we set out early – around 5 am – for the 3-hour climb up to the summit, the highest point in North Africa. It is a steep climb with the possibility of snow still early in the season. The views from the summit are stunning, with views in all directions, to the Sahara in the south and looking down on the passes and peaks we have seen during our trek. We finally leave the summit and return to the refuge – a descent of about two hours. After our picnic lunch, there is time to relax or explore the area while our evening meal is prepared.

Day 4: Toubkal Refuge – Sidi Chamarouch – Aroumd – Imlil

After breakfast, we start the long descent back to Imlil. As usual, we follow the old mule trails as they wend their way down the valley. At about lunchtime, we arrive at Sidi Chamarouch (2310m) where there is a shrine set into a large white-painted rock that attracts pilgrims from all over Morocco. The shrine is forbidden to non-Muslims but there are souvenir shops and cafes open to all! We continue down to Aroumd, an attractive village built on a rocky outcrop and surrounded by terraces with a rich variety of crops and fruit trees. Finally, we arrive back in Imlil where we will say goodbye to our mules and muleteers and where we transfer back to Marrakech.
